HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - For some attendees, Wednesday’s Hawaii Career Expo wasn’t just about a career change.
It was about finding stability as paychecks become less predictable.
More than 100 employers set up booths in the Neal S. Blaisdell Exhibition Hall.
Among the hundreds who came through looking for opportunities was federal worker Brian King.
“I’ve been furloughed since Oct. 1,” King said.
With no income coming in, King said he’s dipping into savings and hoping to find something new.
“It’s been tough not getting a check. My wife’s in the same situation, but she’s going to work every day,” he said.
King said he’s keeping his options open.
Also in attendance was former federal employee Chris Sciotto, who recalled what it was like during the last government shutdown.
