The Film and Television Institute (FTII) of India’s student association has reiterated its demand to halt the admission process as it said that explanations provided by the university about alleged discrepancies in merit lists were not satisfactory even as authorities said full transparency had been provided to student representatives in a meeting with the Vice Chancellor on Monday.
The FTII has accepted that an initial merit list had ‘calculation-based errors’ and published a revised list, with extra candidates selected as a one-time measure. However, the student body on Sunday had raised issues with the final merit list, questioning deviation from government mandated reservation percentages and lack of clarity over when during the admission process were the reservation categories frozen
