MONROE, Wis. (WMTV) - Walls are rising and excitement is building in Monroe as construction continues on the district’s brand-new high school, a project leaders say will transform how students learn and connect with their community.

The new Monroe High School has been years in the making. Superintendent Joe Monroe, who was officially appointed to the district’s top job this week, said the effort reflects years of community input and a shared vision for the future.

“It goes back probably seven or eight years when we first started talking about wanting to do something different,” Monroe said. “We love our current high school, it’s been a great building with a lot of great memories, but ultimately there were some issues we couldn’t overcome.”
