Miguel Cairo, who served as interim manager after the Washington Nationals ousted Dave Martinez midseason, has been informed he is no longer under consideration to remain at the post on a permanent basis, according to multiple people familiar with the matter. Cairo interviewed for the job last week.

The Nationals have also told six coaches, including hitting coach Darnell Coles and pitching coach Jim Hickey, that they will not return unless the team’s next manager opts to keep them around, according to multiple people familiar with the conversations.
