DES MOINES, Iowa ( KCCI ) - A 14-year-old boy is in custody after allegedly stealing a car and leading police on a chase in Des Moines, KCCI reports.

Des Moines police say the teen stole a car from the Hy-Vee parking lot on SE 14th Street and Park Avenue around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police found the crashed car nearby. The boy was taken into custody after leaving the scene on foot.
