TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Martha Lasher-Warner’s daughter lost her life to domestic violence 21 years ago. But before Liza's husband killed her, Martha explained, “When she told him she wasn't happy in the marriage, they were in the bedroom. And he pushed her down on the bed, tied her up and raped her.”

Martha works at Unity House Domestic Violence Services and said the new ability to handle domestic and sexual violence services is exactly what was needed to make the process less traumatic for victims. “We'll take them, you know, their domestic violence intake. And then I have had to refer them to the sexual assault center in the past. Now we're going to have the staff to be able to handle that within these walls,” said Lasher-Warner.
