BECKETT RIDGE, Ohio —

Lakota Local Schools hosted an information session on a proposed levy that residents will find on their ballots next week.

The district’s goal is to reduce operating costs by reducing the number of school buildings from 21 to 16. That would include demolishing and renovating some older buildings and building at least four new ones. Advertisement

“That money that's freed up with less buildings, we can use that and then move that money into the direct student experience,” superintendent of Lakota Local Schools Dr. Ashley Whitely said.

If passed, the levy would cost about $208 per $100,000 of appraised property value, per year.

Although the levy will be on the ballot for voters on the upcoming Nov. 4 Election Day, the district wouldn’t start collecting until 2029.
