People working in Washington will soon see an increase to their Paid Family & Medical Leave premium, according to the Employment Security Department of Washington State.
Starting January 1, 2026, the premium rate will increase from 0.92% to 1.13%. Employers will pay 28.57% of the total premium, whereas employees will be responsible for 71.43%.
The premiums fund benefits from Washington's Paid Family & Medical Leave program. Over 218,000 Washingtonians have claimed paid leave benefits so far this year, totaling to over $1.7 billion.
