NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — WAVY-TV 10 has partnered with the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore to put on the Feeding Hampton Roads food drive Thursday in the Pembrooke Square parking lot.

Almost a month into the current federal government shutdown, many in Hampton Roads are feeling its effects, from families struggling to put food on the table, to foodbanks having trouble keeping up with the increased demand.

“This is just coming at a really challenging time for our community, especially here in Hampton Roads when we see how much of our community is affected directly by the government shutdown," said Foodbank director of community engagement Jeremy Rodden.
