SEATTLE — An LGBTQ landmark in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood is coming back to life just in time for Halloween.
The Unicorn bar, famous for its carnival-themed décor and drag shows, reopens Thursday night. It was forced to close for three months because of a fire at a neighboring business. Seattle Fire ruled the late-July blaze at a mail and shipping store next door accidental. It was caused by faulty electrical wiring. The fire left significant smoke and water damage, forcing the Unicorn to shut down and rebuild.
Photos posted by the bar show plastic sheeting and exposed ceiling sections, described as “months of scrubbing, repainting, and cleaning up after an electrical fire.”
Neighbors along East Pike Street say the bar’s return is a sign that the block’s creative energy is back
