INDIANAPOLIS — Many Hoosiers have been asking the same questions: "Where can we get help while SNAP benefits are paused ?" or "Where can we drop off food to help?"
Local organizations, such as the Indianapolis Office of Public Health and Safety and Indy Peace, are accustomed to filling in the gaps in underserved communities facing food insecurity with free meal events every month
"We try to have a variety of meats, fruits, vegetables, and protein. We don't want to just give people anything, but rather a balanced meal," Indy Peace lead program manager Shardae Hoskins said.
Now they've got even more to consider in November if the government shutdown continues.
