Zubeen Garg and ‘Roi Roi Binale’: The music world woke up heartbroken after the sudden passing of legendary Assamese singer-composer Zubeen Garg. The 52-year-old star is loved across India for his soulful voice and fearless personality. He died in Singapore on September 19. The singer reportedly suffered a seizure while swimming.

But Assam has chosen not to let his final note fade quietly. In a rare and emotional tribute, every cinema hall in the state will stop screening all movies from October 31. No new films, no ongoing releases, only ‘Roi Roi Binale’, personal dream project of Zubeen Garg, will play on big screens. This is the state’s way of honouring a man whose voice became a part of Assam’s identity.
