MOUNDSVILLE — The city of Moundsville recently approved another opioid funding grant in the amount of $40,000 for the Salvation Army of Ohio, Marshall, Wetzel and Tyler counties.

“The Salvation Army was approved for a grant of $40,000 for Red Shield Wagon Outreach Program, which will provide childcare and emergency rental assistance funds,” City Manager Rick Healy told council during a recent meeting.

The city was allotted about $300,000 in opioid funding garnered from lawsuits settled by the state of West Virginia against drug manufacturers and distributors. The money has been distributed across the state.

Moundsville decided to start its grant program to help local agencies that already help people impacted by addiction.
