IRON MOUNTAIN — Former state Rep. Beau LaFave has joined three other candidates seeking to replace term-limited state Sen. Ed McBroom, R-Waucedah Township, in Michigan’s 38th District. LaFave, an Iron Mountain Republican, represented Michigan’s 108th House District from 2017 to 2022.

“After serving six years as the state representative for Dickinson, Delta and Menominee counties, I left office due to term limits,” LaFave said in a recent Facebook post. “Unfortunately, the current U.P. state senator must also leave office for the same reason.”

LaFave shared his campaign announcement with The Iron Mountain Daily News Tuesday. The general election for the Senate seat is Nov. 3, 2026. The primary election date is Aug. 4.
