The Minot Symphony Orchestra continues its 100th season with “A Dance with Destiny” on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m. in Ann Nicole Nelson Hall on the campus of Minot State University. The program features works by Robert Jager, Sergei Prokofiev and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
According to MSO information, the concert opens with Jager’s “Magic City Jubilee,” commissioned by the orchestra and premiered in 1986 to honor Minot’s 100th anniversary. Excerpts from Prokofiev’s “Romeo and Juliet” follow, capturing Shakespeare’s themes of love and fate. The evening concludes with Tchaikovsky’s “Symphony No. 5 in E minor,” exploring destiny, struggle and triumph.
