Shreyas Iyer sustained an injury in the third ODI against Australia, but it turned out to extremely serious as he was hospitalised and admitted in ICU due to an internal bleeding. Iyer was running backwards when he caught the catch of Alex Carey and dismissed him, but as soon as he fell on the ground Iyer was seen in excruciating pain.

According to the PTI, it has been reported that Shreyas Iyer collapsed in the dressing room and the parameters of his vitals also dropped significantly. Earlier, it was mentioned that it was an injury to the left rib but situation worsened.

Shreyas Iyer is currently stable but he has to wait till January to make his return in competitive cricket. According to a report by RevSportz, his recovery will take time which means that he will be ruled out of the OD
