Multiple Russian missiles struck the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia on Wednesday night into Thursday, local officials said.
In the early hours of Thursday, first responders could be seen clearing rubble in residential areas of the city.
Regional authorities reported 17 people were injured, including a 2-year-old girl.
Doctors are treating children aged 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, and 16 among the wounded.
Rescuers pulled one person from the rubble, but the man did not survive.
The Russian strike destroyed several floors of student accommodation.
“The enemy had been attacking Zaporizhzhia and Zaporizhzhia district for several hours. A dormitory was hit — several floors there have been destroyed,” regional governor Ivan Fedorov wrote on his social media page.
Search and rescue operations are continuing, according to the head of the Zaporizhzhia regional administration.
