PATIALA: Retired Chandigarh Police DSP Dilsher Singh allegedly shot at Aam Aadmi Party functionary Nitin Nanda after a quarrel at a wedding near Anandpur Sahib in Punjab’s Ropar district on Wednesday afternoon. The bullet hit Nitin in the back of the head, and he wasrushed to PGI Chandigarh, 80km away, for surgery. A case of attempted murder has been registered against Dilsher and two others, who are on the run, say police. Teams are out looking for them. A long-running property dispute is the probable trigger for the shooting, said an officer. Nanda, who owns stone crushers in Anandpur Sahib and Himachal Pradesh, unsuccessfully contested the 2017 and 2022 assembly elections as an Independent candidate and on a SAD (B)-BSP ticket.
