CARMEL – The Putnam Board of Elections has been kept extremely busy this week with residents casting ballots ahead of next Tuesday’s general election.
Early voting is taking place at two locations—Board of Elections headquarters in Carmel and the North Highlands Fire Department headquarters in Philipstown.
Elections Commissioner Cathy Croft reported on Wednesday that the first half of the nine-day early voting has far surpassed the last local early voting turnout in 2023.
Two years ago, 1,377 residents cast ballots during the first four days of early balloting while this year the numbers have skyrocketed to 1,820.
Early voting continues today from 12 noon to 8 pm; tomorrow, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
