AIKEN — Thirty croquet players from eight different states are coming to Aiken this weekend for an invitational tournament at the Green Boundary Club, including former national champion Bo Prillaman who hails from Virginia.

The tournament will run from Friday morning to Sunday afternoon and the public is invited to watch the games for free.

Marc Blumberg, the organizer of the event, said that he hopes many will attend the tournament to increase the game’s visibility and encourage people to get involved.

“We’re interested in growing the sport as much as possible, we have an active croquet program at Green Boundary Club , and there’s an active group of clubs throughout the state, and the more people that get exposed, maybe they want to learn how to play or play better,” he said.
