Six states across the Midwest , Southwest , South Central, and Mountain West have been issued freeze warnings and frost advisories by the National Weather Service (NWS), with some regions seeing sub-freezing temperatures fall to around 20.

The sudden drop in temperatures could affect crops and sensitive, uncovered outdoor plants, and also damage unprotected outdoor water pipes and plumbing. The NWS has also warned drivers in certain affected areas to slow down and leave plenty of distance when driving, as subfreezing temperatures could lead to slippery bridges and overpasses.
