French authorities have made a major breakthrough in the brazen Louvre jewel heist, arresting five more suspects in coordinated raids across Paris on Wednesday night, local time.
The arrests have been made in connection with the Louvre Museum robbery in Paris on October 19, in which thieves stole crown jewels worth an estimated $157 million, French media have reported.
Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau told RTL that the latest arrests were made on Wednesday night across the French capital and in nearby Seine-Saint-Denis. However, she admitted the operation had not yet led investigators to the missing jewels.
Beccuau said one suspect was already a key target, with DNA evidence allegedly linking him to the crime.
