Kolkata: In a disturbing incident at Calcutta Medical College and Hospital ( CMCH ), an on-duty female intern doctor was allegedly molested by a patient in an inebriated state on Monday night. In response, medical students staged a protest in front of the principal’s office, demanding security measures on the hospital premises.

According to the news reports, the incident took place when the patient was brought to the emergency department for treatment. It is alleged that a policeman stationed outside the emergency ward failed to intervene despite hearing the commotion. The intern reportedly approached the police later to report the incident, after which authorities took action. No arrests have been made so far.
