CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) - The Good Samaritan House in Carbondale is calling for public support amid the disruption of federal SNAP food assistance due to the government shutdown.
Organizers are asking for non-perishable food donations, monetary donations and community partner-led food drives to help feed those set to lose food benefits.
They say donations and food drives will be “critical” in helping those in need don’t go hungry.
The Good Samaritan House is also inviting local businesses, organizations, faith communities and student groups to partner with them by hosting food drives or by making donations.
“Every can, every box, every drive matters. Everyone can make a difference,” said Good Samaritan Ministries Executive Director Patty Mullen in a released statement.
