Meta , the parent company of Facebook, is cutting more than 300 jobs, affecting staff at its Menlo Park headquarters.

A Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filing, commonly known as WARN, with the California Employment Development Department on Oct. 22 showed permanent layoffs affecting 308 employees effective Dec. 22.

Meta did not immediately respond to the Desert Sun’s inquiry to confirm the number of workers being laid off across the Menlo Park location — the San Francisco Chronicle reported it was 318. Meta did not immediately respond to say whether or not these layoffs are part of the “roughly 600 positions” being cut from its Superintelligence Labs, which news outlets have described as its artificial intelligence division, first reported by Axios on Oct. 22.
