Big news for metro area trick-or-treaters - a shift in the track of a wet system moving through the region on Halloween may keep most of Friday dry.

But before we get to Friday, Portland has a pleasant Thursday in store with partly sunny skies and a high temperature of about 60 degrees.

The National Weather Service says to expect blustery winds by the afternoon. The windy conditions will start in the western parts of the Columbia River Gorge with gusts of 30-45 mph likely. Portions of the east metro area should see afternoon gusts of 20-25 mph.

Clouds will increase overnight, but in wind-sheltered areas and in areas with fewer clouds, Friday morning could start with fog or even frost, especially in the southern portions of the Willamette Valley.
