Today, we’re talking about wind chill, hypothermia and extreme cold safety.

When extreme cold is expected in Western Mass, we will get alerts issued ahead of the threat.

Cold Weather Advisory

Wind Chill Values between -10 to -19°

Frostbite between 20-30 mins

For at least 3 hours

Extreme Cold Warning

Wind Chill Values between -20 to -25°

Frostbite between 10-20 mins

For at least 3 hours

What is Wind Chill?

When we are in the cold, and our body loses heat, there is a thin layer of that heat that remains around our bodies to help keep us warm.
