Tesla Inc. has announced a recall of thousands of Cybertrucks due to an issue with the off-road light bar that could pose a hazard and boost the risk of a crash.
According to the notice posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Tuesday, Oct. 28, the manufacturer stated that the accessory may fall on the road.
"An incorrect surface primer may have been used to attach the lightbar to the windshield, causing the light bar to loosen and detach," the recall stated.
Which Tesla cybertruck model is potentially affected by the recall?
According to the NHTSA, approximately 6,197 2024 Tesla Cybertrucks are possibly affected by the recall. The vehicles were produced between Nov. 2023 and Nov. 2024. The recall number is SB-25-90-001.
Per the safety recall report, owners could identify the issue by noticing "a gap between the light bar and the windshield, and the light bar may feel loose when touched."
The lightbar may also make a noise that could be heard from inside the cabin.
What should Tesla Cybertruck owners do?
The light bar will be inspected and repaired, with any necessary additional mechanical attachments provided at no cost via Tesla Service.
Car owners will also be notified by mail, with the letters sent on Dec. 26.
Customers can reach Tesla at 1-877-798-3752.
