As federal SNAP benefits lapse due to the government shutdown , nearly 700,000 hungry Oklahomans face uncertainty. Meanwhile, Gov. Kevin Stitt proudly announces our "maxed out" rainy day fund while refusing to use it for its intended purpose.
"Oklahoma is in a very, very strong financial situation," Stitt proclaimed in his Oct. 29 news conference. "We have the largest savings account in our state history. Constitutionally, I've maxed out the rainy day fund."
Yet instead of utilizing these funds to help vulnerable Oklahomans, the governor's solution is directing people to " beaneighbor.org " and encouraging others to shop at local grocery stores.
