A Prince George man who was poisoned and hospitalized for a week after taking a bodybuilding supplement that was tainted with unsafe levels of vitamin D has filed a lawsuit against the Ontario manufacturer.

Benjamin Sullivan was a 16-year-old high school student and hockey player in 2021 when he took what was marketed as “pure creatine” by Genex Nutraceuticals’ Perfect Sports brand.

The label said it contained no vitamin D but it “actually contained toxic levels,” said the notice of civil claim that names two numbered companies, one doing business as Genex and the other Perfect Sports, as well Bruce Colero, an executive for both.
