GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A 43-year-old Grand Rapids man has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of a 60-year-old woman earlier this month, police announced Thursday.

Justin Leys was charged Oct. 28 following an investigation into the death of Kristine Haddad, according to the Grand Rapids Police Department. Leys is in custody awaiting arraignment.

The case began Oct. 13 when Grand Rapids Fire Department personnel and emergency medical technicians responded to a residence in the 300 block of Alfred Avenue NE.

First responders were told Haddad had sustained a head injury from a fall. After administering life-saving measures and restoring a pulse, paramedics took her to a local hospital.
