The New England Patriots were ecstatic when the opportunity presented itself for the team to draft Drake Maye out of UNC, but did they expect all of this?

Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is the first player in NFL history to have at least two touchdown passes and a passer rating of 135-or-higher in five of his team's first eight games of a season, and to have at least 200 passing yards and a passer rating of 100-or-higher in each of his past seven starts. Maye is playing like a generational quarterback in New England. But, it doesn't stop there!

With at least 200 passing yards and a passer rating of 100 or higher in Week 8, Maye can become the first player under the age of 24 and the fourth player in NFL history to record at least 200 passing yards and a passer rating of 100 or higher in eight consecutive games. He would join Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, and Tom Brady.

Drake Maye is an exceptional QB talent. Still, I do not believe the Patriots, or the NFL, expected him to make this type of contribution to the record books this early after trying to replace the greatest ever to play the position, Tom Brady.
