A 52-year-old man serving a life term for his role in a 1993 double murder in Mattapan has been granted parole , records show.
The state Parole Board voted 5-1 to grant release to Marcus D. Edwards after he spends six months in a lower security facility, according to a ruling dated Oct. 23.
Edwards was convicted in 1994 of two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of Kevin Christopher, 23, and Lloyd Industrious, 21, the ruling said.
Industrious was a former high school basketball star who captained the 1989 Madison Park High School team to a citywide championship, the Globe reported at the time of the murders.
