Just when you think things are getting better in Dauphin County, another whammy hits. This one is likely to rile hard-working taxpayers who have a right to demand county commissioners be good stewards of their money.

Dauphin County Commissioners have spent $670,000 on a 3.47-acre lot to create a “tent city” for homeless people in our region. The idea is a good one, but how it was implemented is not.

First, there are serious questions about whether the former truck parking lot is worth the $670,000 the county paid for it. It may be, but there’s little to show it.
