HOLT, Mich. (WILX) - A woman in Holt is giving scares to her community this Halloween while also giving back.

Debbie Wright has hosted a haunted house in her own home for the past 15 years and recently decided to make her event one that benefits the community.

The house, called Immortal Grounds, is free for anyone to attend, but visitors are encouraged to bring canned goods for the Holt Food Pantry. Last year, Wright collected close to 400 pounds of food to donate.

“I’ve always wanted to help out the community in whatever way that I could,” Wright said. “I thought, I’ve seen other people who do home haunts like me take donations in for pets or whatever. I thought, well, why not the food bank? You know, they seem like they need help.”
