LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky households will be able to get assistance with their home heating costs for a month.
Registration for Kentucky's Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Fall Subsidy begins on Monday, and applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis, until Dec. 12, a spokesperson for Community Action Kentucky said.
Kentuckians that are up to and including 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines are eligible; for example, a household of three people must be at or below $3,332 as the gross monthly income, according to Community Action Agencies.
The benefit is based on the type of house, the households fuel type and the income level, and it can be used towards costs for electric, natural gas, propane, coal, wood, or fuel oil, the spokesperson said.
