NELSON COUNTY, Ky. — As prices continue to rise, food pantries across Kentuckiana are bracing for an increase in demand, and some local groups are already stepping up to help fill the gap.
In Nelson County, Morgan Haynes knows what it’s like to struggle to put food on the table; she was a single teen mom raising a child.
“I just can’t imagine being a parent and not being able to provide for your family,” Haynes said. “I’ve been there before, and I’m so grateful that I’m in a different place now — but I know what it’s like.”
Haynes recently partnered with Bourbon City Kitchen & Trade Company in Bardstown to launch a community food drive. The effort began with a simple social media post that quickly gained attention.
