OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (WVLT) - People in the Oak Ridge area next week may hear sirens go off in and around the Y-12 National Security Complex. Y-12 announced Thursday that crews would be testing emergency sirens the week of Nov. 3.
Test tones sound different from the sounds that indicate a real emergency. A spokesperson for the complex said testing tones will come from individual sirens. In the event of an actual emergency, they said, all sirens will play a three-minute tone.
Y-12 has resources outlining what to do during an actual emergency here .
