Country music star Luke Bryan has revealed his sister Kelly Bryan died from Sudden Death Syndrome in 2007, sharing the information publicly for the first time to address misconceptions circulating online.

During an Oct. 28 episode of the CNN podcast “All There Is with Anderson Cooper,” Bryan explained why he decided to speak out about his sister’s death.

“I’ve never really explained what happened to my sister,” Bryan said. “There’s some misinformation out there on the internet, and I think some people kind of wonder what happened and think that we’ve tried to cover it up.”

Bryan told Cooper his sister’s death was attributed to a rare condition.
