A dramatic hostage situation at RA Studio in Powai ended in a swift rescue operation on Thursday, as Mumbai Police commandos freed 17 children and two adults held captive by a disgruntled studio employee.
The suspect, Rohit Arya, was critically injured during the operation and later succumbed to a bullet wound.
A 35-Minute Operation That Saved Lives
The crisis began around 2 PM when Arya, reportedly conducting auditions at the studio, barricaded himself with the children and threatened to set the building ablaze. Negotiations failed, prompting police to storm the premises. Arya fired at officers, leading to a retaliatory shot by the lead commando. Eight commandos entered through a bathroom and safely evacuated the hostages.
