MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Darren Goods, who was appointed in April as the city's public safety advisor, has resigned, a city spokesperson said Thursday.

Goods, a former MPD colonel and commander of the Investigative Services Bureau, had 35 years of experience, the city said when he was appointed.

Goods’ position was funded in part by the Crime Commission’s Business Roundtable, part of a public-private partnership to reduce crime in the city.

The city said at the time Goods was a contractor through the Crime Commission, and the city’s portion of the contract is $100,000 per year.
