The Sherwood Park Wolverines are hungry for gold.

The local U13 9/side punched their ticket to the Mills Division Tier 2 championship on Saturday, Oct. 25 with a 40-34 win over the St. Albert’s 49’ers in the quarter finals hosted in Emerald Hills.

Even though St. Albert took an early lead, scoring first within six plays, the Wolverines settled into the game and scored 26 unanswered points, led by Zack Roed, who finished the game with five touchdowns (two interceptions for touchdowns, two receiving TDs, and one running). After the Wolverines were up 26-6 at the half, the Park lost their starting quarterback Emmett Leible and backup QB Ryan O’Gorman to injuries in the third. Roed continued his dominance in the game and filled in as a fourth string QB, a position he never played before.
