GARY, Ind. (NewsNation) — Department of Homeland Security officials continue to tout thousands of arrests that have been made during Operation Midway Blitz, insisting that the increased presence of federal agents and officers is making Chicago safer.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and others inside the Trump administration insist that the enforcement operation that began in early September remains focused on taking the “worst of the worst” off of Chicago streets.

However, amid continued opposition from Illinois Gov.
