The whole MMA world is still talking about UFC 321’s controversial eye poke. Tom Aspinall, who was defending his title for the first time officially against Ciryl Gane, got eye-poked in the first round, and the whole community had a lot to say. Meanwhile, Conor McGregor’s promotion’s fighter, Mike Perry, reacted to the situation and praised Aspinall.
Many fans believed the heavyweight champ could’ve continued fighting, while others defended his decision to stop. Some also pointed out that what Gane did seemed accidental and not intentional. The BKFC middleweight champion backed the English fighter, saying in a recent video:
“Sometimes you got to do what’s smarter for you and not just for the entertainment of the fans. … It’s not a defeat and he’ll come back.”
Meanwhile, everybody is now
