WILLIAMSTOWN — Some area farmers are considering taking legal action after Stormont Dundas Glengarry planted trees along long sections of its county roads.
Glengarry Federation of Agriculture (GFA) president Duncan Ferguson led a delegation of farmers and landowners at the Oct. 27 South Glengarry Council meeting .
At issue is what the farmers call the unauthorized tree planting along county roads near Martintown and St. Andrews West.
While the GFA acknowledged the importance of expanding the tree canopy in SDG, it questioned the lack of notification or consultation with landowners.
“There is a place for trees and a place for crops,” said Ferguson.
