The National Weather Service in Wakefield expects Halloween to be clear of rain and for temperatures to drop this weekend.

“High pressure is going to move back over our area and give us a very pleasant fall weekend overall,” forecaster Henry Thomas said in a Thursday morning weather briefing. “None of this dreary weather we’ve been seeing these past couple of days.”

After about 2 inches of rainfall was observed across the region from Monday to Wednesday, Thomas said about a half inch of precipitation is expected to fall Thursday. Higher air pressure moving in should contribute to clearer skies.

As the skies clear, temperatures will drop. Thomas said some parts of eastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina are looking at a cold front wherein temperatures to dip into the lower 40s
