ALEXANDRIA — For longtime Minnesota coach and author Tom Peart, the rink has always been a place of lessons learned and life rediscovered.

Now, with the release of his second book, “The Boy in the Pond,” Peart is translating decades of memory, mentorship and quiet self-reflection into something that reaches far beyond the game in his first fictional work.

It follows his first book titled “A Vagabond Life: Stories from a Minnesota Hockey Coach,” which shares stories from Peart about his life growing up around the state and his time spent in the United States Marine Corp over a five-decade career of being involved in high school, collegiate and professional ice hockey.
