LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Michigan Senate is holding a hearing on Thursday to allow dogs in outdoor seating at restaurants.

According to the Michigan Legislature, Senate Bill 200, introduced by State Sen. Sam Singh, would allow dogs to be in the outdoor seating areas of restaurants if both the owners and establishment meet certain requirements.

Currently, Section 6-501.115 of the Michigan Modified Food Code (MMFC) restricts the presence of animals in businesses that sell, prepare, or serve food. However, service animals are allowed in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.
