Central Michigan football has been placed on probation for two years and has been fined about $100,000 as part of a negotiated settlement with the NCAA for its role in former Michigan sign-stealer Connor Stalions appearing on the Chippewas' sideline for a game against Michigan State in 2023.

The NCAA's investigation into Central Michigan began Oct. 31, 2023, two years ago, almost to the day of Thursday's announced punishments, after pictures began making the rounds on social media showing Stalions in a goatee and CMU maroon-and-gold gear during a game at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing.

CMU acknowledged the settlement with the NCAA on Thursday.
