WASHINGTON — Nathan Lawson has been raising beef cattle in Spencer County, Kentucky, for 20 years.
He voted for President Donald Trump three times and said he's mostly supportive of his approach to the economy but was disappointed in a recent social media post by the president, he said.
“I have to admit that I messaged my wife when he made that comment and I said, ‘He's smarter than this,’” Lawson said.
Last week, the president urged cattle ranchers to “get their prices down,” adding “…the only reason they are doing so well, for the first time in decades, is because I put Tariffs on cattle coming into the United States … If it weren’t for me, they would be doing just as they’ve done for the past 20 years – Terrible!”
